MyLiaison Win VFX Award for Mama
Our MyLiaison team were absolutely delighted to receive the award for Best Visual Effects at the recent I Filmmaker International Film Festival Marbella. The award was a well-deserved recognition of the exemplary work of the MyL team.
The short film, Mama, directed by Eduardo Vieitiz, has been receiving critical acclaim at many film festivals and awards. Set in Syria, Mama follows the story of a lone child as she makes her way from Aleppo, where her home has been destroyed, to Turkey as a refugee.
Mama, for which MyLiasion created the award-winning VFX, has been receiving several awards across the international film festivals, including Best Director and Best Cinematography.
MyL were honoured to work closely with the director from the beginning in setting the scene for the powerful narrative. Starting with stylised frames, the team went on to provide 3D animatics to ascertain the logistics of the more complex shots and all the way through to the final effects and compositing. Said Vieitiz,
“They (MyLiasion) also contributed with a lot of smart ideas to make the film grow … My most sincere congratulations to the whole team, thank you very much for your wonderful work and look forward to working together again soonest.”
Back at MyL, spirits are high, says MyL’s VFX Supervisor, Tony Landais, “This is a wonderful recognition of our work on Mama. We’re extremely proud of that work, and of our creative team here at MyL.”
